Jon Lengel
President
Moved to the valley in 1993 and since 1986 has been a commercial, land and ranch appraiser. He was on the Eagle Valley Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors from 1994 through 1998, serving as President in 1997. Jon was appointed to the Eagle County Planning Commission in 1996 and 1997 and was a charter member of the Eagle Valley Rotary Club in 1998. He was the club Treasurer in 1999 and served on the Board of Directors in 2000 and 2001. Jon also was on the Colorado State University Advisory Cooperative Extension Service Advisory Council from 1997 through 2000.
Laurie Slaughter
Vice President
Laurie has been a resident of the Eagle Valley for over 35 years. Her husband was born and raised on a 5th generation ranch in the Gypsum Valley and they have raised their three sons here. Laurie has been selling Real Estate since 1995 and has been involved in residential, commercial and development property sales and has been a Top Producer for many years with Prudential Colorado Properties. She thoroughly enjoys helping people achieve their Real Estate goals, and strives to offer clients and customers the very best service with both a personal and professional touch. The many clients that she has worked with have become friends and loyal customers. Laurie also loves contributing to this wonderful community that we live in and she currently serves on the Board for the Eagle County Down Payment Assistance program.
Debbie Comerford
Treasurer
Moved to the Eagle Valley in 1974 from South Florida. With degrees in business management and education, she has been active as a local volunteer and served on three accountability committees at local schools, where she also chaired Project Graduation activities for Eagle Valley High School in 2006. She was also elected to the Eagle County School District Board, where she was Vice President for three years. Debbie’s wide-ranging background includes stints in ticket sales at Beaver Creek, as a bookkeeper, a florist, a construction assistant, real estate property manager, a teacher and a chauffeur. Debbie is currently retired with four grandchildren. She lives on Brush Creek near Eagle with her two dogs and a bird and spends her free time hiking, snow shoeing, traveling, birding and observing nature.
Steve Smith
Secretary
Steve worked in the Eagle County Schools as an educator since 1980 as a speech/language specialist, athletic coach, athletic director, director of special education, assistant principal at Eagle Valley Middle School, and principal at the award-winning Gypsum Creek Middle School. An Ohio native, he also lived in Wisconsin and Hawaii. He and his wife since 1984, Deb Earl, are the parents of Sage, Ethan and Wyatt, with whom they enjoy local outdoor activities in the Eagle Valley’s beautiful terrain and climate. Steve and his family savor western Eagle County’s family-centered communities and a wide range of long-time, nature-loving friends.
Sonja Beasley
Sonja was born and raised in Eagle and has always had a strong interest in her community. She is married to her husband, Bill, and they have two grown daughters, Lyndsay and Whitney, and four grandchildren who are the lights of their life. They enjoy spending time together, traveling and making memories. Both Sonja and Bill have had six generations of family in Colorado and their roots run deep. Their families have lived across the Valley from Minturn to Gypsum, with most residing in the western end.
Sonja has worked for Eagle County Government, the Town of Eagle, Dr. Gerald Fedrizzi, and for the last 27 years has worked for Eagle County School District as a Registrar at Gypsum Creek Middle School. She also spent a couple of years working at the Strawberry Patch in Eagle as a florist. These jobs have led her in different ways to serving her community through committees and volunteerism.
She spent 8 years serving on the Town of Eagle Board of Trustees in the late 80’s to early 90’s. Sonja was a very active Eagle Valley High School Booster Club member, serving as the secretary for 6 years. She coached recreation league basketball and soccer. She also coached high school cheer for many years. For over 30 years Sonja was a mainstay of the Eagle Valley Flight Days Committee and Co-Chaired that committee for most of that time.
